Partner Programs & Service Offerings

SPL has been lucky to work with many great community organizations, which has made many of our programs possible. While we are unable to partner with many of these groups during the COVID-19 pandemic, we still want to help spread the word about the incredible work they're continuing to do in our city! Keep reading for more information.

Reconciliation Saskatoon: ConnectR Reconciliation Challenge
Though there will not be a Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day this June, Reconciliation Saskatoon has created a Reconciliation Challenge to engage and encourage people to take actionable steps towards reconciliation. Every week for eight weeks, visit beaconnectr.com to choose a call to action and commit to fulfilling that action. Join Zoom calls with Indigenous Elders, leaders, and youth. To participate, join the Facebook Group or email [email protected].

Discovery Pass Partners (Remai Modern, WDM & YMCA)
Because Remai Modern and the Western Development Museum are still closed to the public and the YMCA is phasing in services starting June 15, the library won’t be lending free Discovery Passes for the time being. However, Remai, WDM, and YMCA are all offering fun and free options to explore and discover online. Try an online fitness class with YMCA here. Explore recipes from the WDM cookbook collection or find some at-home activities for the kids here. Find great weekend artmaking or artist questionnaires from Remai Modern here.

Family Service Saskatoon
Our Walk-in Counselling partner, Family Service Saskatoon, is offering free counselling sessions via telephone every day to anyone who needs it. Call 306.244.0127 between 9 am and 4 pm and ask for "Call-In Counselling". For more information, click here

Parks Canada
Parks Canada has begun offering some camping services across the country. Towards the end of June and early July, they will be adding new content to their website, including videos, kids activities and even a printable parks board game for the family to enjoy. There will also be new content for Learn To Camp and Saskatchewan Species At Risk.

Family Law Information Centre
The Family Law Information Centre is available to provide legal information to anyone who has questions about family law. Self-help kits can be sent out to those wishing to represent themselves. Assistance is provided in the completion of court documents. Call toll free 1.888.218.2822 (extension 2) or email [email protected]. You can find more information on their website.

PLEA
Our long-time partner, Public Legal Education Association (PLEA), is still working hard to provide free legal information and services. For example, the Listen Project offers free legal advice to survivors of sexual violence, the FamLi Agreement Maker guides users through a separation agreement, and COVID-19 & The Law helps answer legal questions arising from the pandemic. Click here to visit their website.

Pride Saskatoon
Pride is going online! Watch for the library in the Virtual Pride Parade on June 20. Visit Saskatoon Pride’s website for more information and online programming.

The winners of the 2020 Saskatchewan Book Awards will be announced online in a virtual awards show set for Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 7 pm.
