Read the Official Newspaper of the Federal Government

Canada Gazette is the official newspaper of the Canadian Federal Government. It has been in publication since 1841. It contains three parts, Part I includes all formal public notices, official appointments, and announcements relating to federal statutes and regulations. Part II contains statutory instruments, regulations and a consolidated index of Statutory Instruments. Part III contains all of the Acts of Canada after they have received Royal Assent. The Canada Gazette is available in print at the Frances Morrison Library. For more information, ask at the Information Services Desk.

Access Information About Parliament

Find out what is currently happening in the Parliament of Canada. This site includes information on the current and historical Senate and House of Commons members as well as committee business and bills. For more information on the Canadian Parliament try the Canadian Parliamentary Handbook (call number 328.7100202 BEJ) or try the subject, Legislative bodies - Canada.

Find a Federal Government Publication

Print copies of many federal government publications can be found at the Saskatoon Public Library in the Government Publications in the Library database. All documents are reference materials that can be used at the Frances Morrison branch of the Saskatoon Public Library. In some cases a Federal government publication may be catalogued for the general collection. If you can't find what you are looking for in the Government Publications in the Library database try the SPL catalogue.

Key Federal Documents on the Web provides links to publications by departments and agencies, parliamentary papers (bills, official papers of the House of Commons and Senate, Committee Reports) and an Index to Federal Royal Commissions.

You can also search directly for Government Publications by title, subject, author or department/agency.

Find Historical Data about Elections and Public Servants

The Saskatchewan Executive and Legislative Directory, compiled by the Saskatchewan Archives Board, provides a convenient and authoritative historical record of the people who have been connected with public affairs in Saskatchewan as members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Assembly, as permanent heads of the chief government departments, and as candidates in successive elections. It also gives the number of votes in Saskatchewan for each party in every federal and provincial election.
