Alice begins her nine-month term on September 1, 2010, but office hours will be announced at a later date. She will work 14.5 hours at the Library, with the remaining 60 percent of her time spent on her own writing. Alice will work out of the Writer in Residence office located in the lower level of the Frances Morrison Library. This residency is co-funded by Saskatoon Public Library and Canada Council for the Arts.
Alice Kuipers is a bestselling author and has written two novels. The Worst Thing She Ever Did (May 2010) and Life on the Refrigerator Door (November 2007), which won several awards and was named a New York Times Book for the Teen Age. Her third novel Forty Things I Want To Tell You is coming out in 2012. Alice has had stories and poems published in magazines and non-fiction in The Telegraph and Easy Living Magazine. She has taught creative writing in Panama, Hong Kong, the UK, Canada and the U.S. Her work is published in 28 languages. Alice lives in Saskatoon.
