Frances Morrison Central Library

SPL's main library location, located on 23rd Street across from City Hall, is named after Frances Morrison who was the chief librarian from 1961 to 1980. During her tenure as Chief Librarian, Frances Morrison oversaw the construction of the new central library and two new libraries, J. S. Wood and Carlyle King Branches. She was responsible for the establishment of the Local History Room, expanded the Fine & Performing Arts area, and developed Programming Services. Currently, plans are underway for a new central library.

Frances Morrison Central Library is wheelchair accessible.

Our downtown location is located right across 23rd Street East from City Hall. Any bus going to the downtown core will drop you off at the bus mall, a block away from the Frances Morrison Central Library. Our central location provides a crucial role in the daily lives of many downtown residents and commuters. Everything from Canadian Citizenship ceremonies to technology tutorials in our Computer Lab to quiet Gallery space in the Music and Arts department can be found at FMCL. We often hear about Saskatonians love of Pooh Corner, and for good reason!
