Renewing & Fines

Tips for avoiding fines

  • Be sure to check your date due slip.

  • If you sign out a book with a shortened loan period, you may want to read it first.

  • Fines will stop once an item loan period is renewed, so give us a call, or check your account online

  • SPL does NOT charge fines on items from any Childrens collections, so your debt may not be as bad as you think!

  • You may be charged a replacement fee if an item is away from the library for 30 days past the due date. Once the item is returned, that charge will be removed from your account.

What if I need more time?

With your library card number handy, you can renew most items twice:

  • in person, at any library branch location

  • by phone at 1.855.980.7457 (SILS) or by phoning any location

  • online through My SPL

A few important points about renewals

  • if an item has been requested by someone else, it cannot be renewed

  • overdue items can still be renewed and this will stop further late charges

  • items cannot be renewed if you have more than $10 owing in late charges

  • to renew Special Loan DVD or video, call 306.975.7580

Where do I return material?

You can return material to any public library in Saskatchewan. Most SPL locations have a 24 hour book drop, and any items returned after hours will still be checked in with the date they were returned.

Exception

Videos and DVDs with Educational/ Public Screening copyright can only be returned to the Fine Arts department, on the second floor of Frances Morrison Central Library.
